Somatic Movement

Listen with all your body. A journey within.

Movement is Life. Where a trauma, or even daily life stress,  is held there is restriction in movement and in the flow of life. Somatic Movement is the art of getting the mind connected with the body in order to listen to the stories our body has to tell, to free the holding patterns, and offering new possibilities.

Somatic Movement, or Body-Mind Movement is the embodiment of the different systems of our body (muscles, organs, liquids, developmental patterns, reflexes, cells, voice…) through movement, dance, breath, sounding, vibrating, touch, imagery etc…
A regular Somatic Movement session would look a little like a guided meditation combined with movements. Movements can be both internal and external, depending on the individual.
It is a self-exploration under the guidance of the Educator leading to a better understanding  of your own body. It can also be very  playful, using props, such as gymnastic ball, soft balls, elastic bands...

To me, such journey into the magic of our body is very inviting, liberating and empowering. The more you explore, the more you get curious.  As the body knows how to balance itself it will provide you with "keys" to go back into these peaceful places whenever you need.

I am convinced that in meeting oneself, through increased physical awareness, there is no greater reward.

This work can also be a complementary* to your physiotherapy, psychotherapy, exercise training, dance routine,  etc... to improve your performances, allow your body to function better and move more freely.

I am also offering ongoing movement exploration classes at WHITE LOTUS CENTRE, in Hong Kong Central.

"Anne has an excellent understanding of the relationship between the mind and the body. I felt very comfortable during the sessions and through her guidance, I was able to easily connect to parts of my body that have been in imbalance and restricted since childhood. My body feels more relaxed, open and whole."
Dr Wendy Yang, holistic chiropractor, HK
